Character News - Freya C, Year 7

Freya C (Y7) participated in the National Junior Para Championships in Coventry.

It has helped develop my character by making me feel more confident to go out there and push myself out of my comfort zone in swimming. This event will help me in the future by gaining experience in national competitions so I can work towards my goal of swimming in the deaf world championships and the Deaflympics.  I won a gold medal in the 100m free and a silver in the 50m free. I worked with the officials to get the strobe light I need to start in the right place and that my lane position was good. My coach was pleased with my progress and the effort I put in and has asked me to volunteer at the World Para Championships in the summer at the Manchester Aquatic Centre.

As a warm up to the national Para championships I competed at the MAC as part of it's reopening meet on 10th June. In the 100m free I swam with Ellie Challis who is a paralympic medal winner. She is inspirational and it was amazing to meet her and swim against her in my heat.
